Campaign gathers pace

The “Axe the Beer Tax – Save the Pub” campaign continued to gather pace into the New Year with over 15,500 people now supporting the campaign. The Facebook group in support of the campaign continues to grow on a daily basis with well over 2,000 new supporters since January 1st. 

The EDM laid in Parliament supporting the campaign has also received more support from MPs from all political parties. EDM 10 entitled “Save the British Pub” has over 80 signatures from Members of Parliament including members of the Liberal Democrat Front Bench and a significant number of Labour Party MPs.

 The campaign is also supported by a number of MPs that are also Doctors. Figures from the campaign also show that over 9,000 letters have been sent to Members of Parliament, urging them to sign up to the campaign and raise the issue with the Chancellor. The campaign will move into a new phase in the run up to the budget, which is expected in March.
