"Save the Pub" EDM 10 gets over 100 Signatures
An Early Day Motion supporting the "Axe the Beer Tax - Save the Pub campaign has reached over 100 signatures in Parliament. The EDM was placed by Bob Russell MP following the launch of the Save the Pub Campaign.
MPs from all parties have come forward to support the campaign including 47 Labour MPs, 37 Lib Dems, 13 Conservatives, 1 Plaid Cymru, 1 SNP and 4 Independents. The list includes former ministers such as Parmjit Dhanda, Front Bench Lib Dems such as Chris Huhne and Simon Hughes and a number of Drs.
The EDM follows the launch of the axe the beer tax campaign in November, since then nearly 10,000 emails being sent to MPs via the Axe the Beer Tax website as well as receiving growing support from industry and the general public.
